Louisa CrispinLouisa Crispin grew up in Sissinghurst – Kent, looking out across the countryside with views of the North Downs on a clear day and the changing weather reflected in the colours and patterns of the outlook. Leisure time was spent in the woods, orchards and hop fields surrounding her where she absorbed a knowledge and love of nature. She is particularly affected by shadows and textures, often returning from a woodland walk inspired to create. However, she can find equal beauty in the jumbled London rooftops or electricity pylons marching across the fields into the mist. Louisa appreciated growing up in an environment where nature’s patterns were treasured and utilised in many creations. However art and craft was considered a hobby; at school she was encouraged into more academic subjects, followed by a career in computing with my need to create relegated to evening classes. Louisa’s work is primarily in Sterling Silver highlighted with semi precious stones and currently exploring the effects of reticulation and embossed finishes. The recent “pretty” fashions suit her style and allow her to experiment with textures and colours. |
