Carole Sinclair-SmithCarole Sinclair-Smith works in silver and semiprecious gemstone beads. Etching using Nitric acid features in a lot of her work and she feels that she has found her ‘niche’ in making hollow pressed forms from sheets of etched silver. The two halves are soldered together forming large beads used as the focal point of much of her jewellery. Carole initially trained as a potter and dabbled in silversmithing many years ago. She returned to working with silver 6 years ago and attended several advanced courses at Central St Martins. She has also attended specialist courses at West Dean College such as repousse and chasing , experimental etching including photo etching, cold enamelling using resins and making silver beads. |
